Whimsy Photography

“I got into the business of photographing families because of a personal need to be artistic. It goes so far beyond that though. It’s about connecting to people, seeing through their guarded walls, making them feel great about themselves and all the while, making art that means something to someone. I can’t describe it, except to say that somewhere in the editing process I feel a connection to the people I work with, even beyond that initial meeting: talking and planning… it becomes something so much more to me, to be fine tuning an image of someone else’s family, seeing the beauty beyond the superficial… it becomes an emotional journey. I am frequently seen at my computer desk with the new images uploaded, editing tools open, with a red face, teary eyes, and a big smile on my face. I will never be able to explain why it is that with the clients I work with, not knowing any more about them than I’ve learned in a few hours, that this happens to me. I only know that somehow my work means the world to me.”
