Whimsy Events

“When my eldest daughter was born, I was that mom that wanted to throw the Pinterest-Perfect parties for her. I would pour over all the inspiration photos of perfect cookies decorated to match the gorgeous cake and a sweet table covered in beautiful colourful treats... I would see the venues all dressed up and looking so cohesive, so welcoming, so exciting. But I remembered my birthdays growing up. Lovingly put together on a shoestring budget by my mother, from start to finish. She did everything for me. She baked and decorated a fun cake, arranged activities for the kids to do, put together loot bags and some decorations herself, and she did it all at home.

I wanted that for my children. So I taught myself how to decorate cookies. It all started with a sugar cookie recipe that I tweaked til I got the perfect texture. That first birthday did NOT have the most beautiful cookies in the world, in fact, looking back, they were what they should be; amateur. And I will always love them because they were a symbol of my love for my baby girl. I cooked for 80 people that weekend. I decorated our home with balloon garlands, I made a cake that I would never hand to a client today, and I am here now creating memories for other families because I was determined to show my little one that she was special to me, and found another job I could love and find fulfillment in. So today, with as much care and attention to detail as I gave my own child's special occasions in that first year, but with far more skill and practice, I present Whimsy Events. A little party business from humble beginnings, founded on an honest love for making smiles happen and memories to last a lifetime.
